Throughout the
history of human beings, we have evidence to show that men did shave
their faces, even as long ago as 20 millennia. Ancient Sumeria has
displayed evidence of hair removal with tweezers and the gum from
various species of rubber plants. In the Arab world, they used a
course rope, twisting it, hoping to remove the hair by painful
pulling.
Wax was a popular
method as far back as Cleopatra, with wax being used commonly, often
mixed with resins and honey.
Clean shaven faces
were popular in many ancient cultures and were considered upper
crust. The clean face was one which did not retain insects nor
bacteria in the hair.
Clean shaven pubic
areas were even popular as far back as Pompeii, with the
"smoothies" taking over the nudist scene.
The expression
"get laid" supposedly has its roots in the "Everleigh"
bordello in 1900's Chicago ("I'm going to get Everleighed
tonight").
In the 18th Century, another
term for anal sex was "navigate the windward passage".
In
17th century Spain, it was illegal for anyone other than a woman's
husband to see her bare feet. A woman could freely expose her
breasts, but feet were considered sexual and had to be covered in
the presence of men other than her husband.
